I wish I could spend the kind of money I used to on Christmas.  These days, my family has scaled back to very small gifts.  Like another person who posted here, I make many of my gifts.  I have been knitting dishtowels and dishcloths since August to give away.  I also make a lot of Chex mix and cookies.  One year, I made my own lotions and bath salts.

:) Every year my son in law makes special Christmas gifts. Usually wood working items. They mean so much to us. We have started sending gift certificates because the postage has gotten so high. We have no small children at home anymore but we still love Christmas.

I actually have started my Christmas shopping. I only have a few people to shop for, so I omly plan on spending maybe $50 at the most.

I shop all throughout the year.  It definitely saves money!

I keep my eyes open through out the year.  I don't like to buy gifts just to get something - I like it to be special or resonate or be something someone needs.   So I take advantage of neat deals and opportunities for unique items whenever no matter the date.

Acsucess thank you for your helpful comment.  There are times I shop for items through out the year - like last year, or was that the year before, a fancy new tv.  I shopped forever before finding the deal I settled on.  Then my dad was interested in a tv around the time of christmas, so I looked and had been shopping market and bells and whistles and prices etc.  I WAS AMAZED!  Prices sounded good but were for lesser models than I had looked at months before.  I could not believe it!  And other times I have shopped and thought "this is no deal" and "maybe even higher", etc.  So I may be crazy but not for this reason.  Thanks for confirming what I was thinking!  Another reason to keep your eyes open and not believe everything the advertisers tell you!  Don't be gullible.

Well I'm spending like $300 on my fiance this year - I always get him crappy gifts, figured it was time for change.
