Have you ever lived abroad, what was your experience like?

I have lived abroad twice.  Once in Germany and once in South Korea (and no I've never been in the military).  I lived both places for 1 year and they were both wonderful experiences.  I would recommend living abroad to just about anyone.  It gives you the ability to hear from diverse perspectives very different from your own and helps you appreciate your own country more.

I have always lived in USA.  I lived in many states as my father was a construction electrian.  I have been to Canada but I have never been to any other countries.  I would love to live in some countries in Europe sometime.  But I don't see that happening.  Some day I would like to take a tour of Europe.  That would be so nice.

I lived in Mexico for a while. It sure gave me a appreciation for what the USA has to offer.

I have never, but my brother visited France for 2 weeks...of course that's nothing like living there.  I'm not so adventurous!

Not yet but I REALLLLLY want to!  Hopefully I'll be able to after my 1st year in college.

Yes, I lived in England for 2.5 years and had a fabulous time. It was a great opportunity for cheap travel and I loved experiencing another (still English-speaking) culture. 

Oh yeah, oh yes indeed, I loved every part of England I was able to see, where were you?

I used to drive up to Dunkerque or Calais and take the ferry across to Dover, cruised all around west to Southampton and north as far as Warwick.  Drove around all over the place on three trips and kind of terrorized the Brits because my steering wheel was on the wrong side and I wasn't used to those enormous traffic circles, but the Brits are such nice and polite people and I had German plates on my Audi, so you know who they were blaming if I got in their way or did something stupid.  Besides those trips I flew into London twice, one of my favorite cities on the planet.  Sorry I never made it up to Scotland or across to Ireland, but there's still time.

I've lived In Germany for a total of over 25 years, three tours with the Army, US of course, and over 13 years working there as a civilian.  The Army also sent me on a one year tour to S. Korea and I spent a few months in Iraq.  I loved living in Europe, not necessarily Germany so much, although life there is great, I enjoyed my travels in Italy and France the most, I took almost 40 road trips through various parts of France.

I'll be moving back to Europe in 2 or 3 years.  To me, life is so much more pleasant and comfortable over there, and the food is several hundred percent better than anything you can find here in the US.

...I have to add to this, the food in England is the worst of any place in Europe.  Not wishing to insult my dear English friends, let me just say it's the "least best."  Their beer, however, is very good.

....and to add further to this, I've taken 7 or 8 (can't remember) road trips across the US, coast to coast and back.  Several other trips through various states, I've been to every state except Alaska and Hawaii, most of those states many times.  I've travelled across Canada from Quebec City to Vancouver two times and took about 7 or 8 trips (can't remember) to Mexico.  Just to clarify that I know North America very well,

but I still prefer Europe.

I've lived in Belgium, Italy and Tanzania. All great experiences due to my parents traveling around the world(their job requirements) I had fun. It opened up my eyes to different cultures, especially different ways of thinking and eating.I recommend everybody to travel abroad at least once in their life time. Very rewarding experience!
