Referral Exchange sites

I have joined one, it seems like a waste of time to me. Most of them you have to stay active for very few credits. I wanted to get my FC link on there, but I would have to be active on several sites to get referrals. It seems counter productive to me. What do you think? Do you use these sites with success?

I've used some of them before. Most of the time, referrals you obtain will only stay active until they receive credit.

i've never tried one, heard they were a lot more work than they were worth though
