Surgery or not need some advise
« on: June 14, 2012, 08:07:18 pm »
I have a lot of paid especially in my back and I have had two doctors who say surgery but I am scared because my aunt had the surgery and know she can't lay down flat on her back or stand up straight.  I can''t spell every they say is wrong with my back but the medication is getting to the point where its now working like it use to and my husband says I crying in my sleep because of the pain.  I am going to be 41 next month and I don't want to be in a wheel chair yet so I don't know what to do. I can't work now because of the bone disease and bone spurs and arthritis up and down my spine.  Anybody have any advice to ease my pain without going through surgery,  I am willing to try anything legal.

Just exactly how many opinions do you want?  If I have two doctors telling me that I need surgery I would tend to listen.

Sometimes surgery is the only option, however, if you have only spoken to MDs you have not explored every option. Medical doctors are not specially trained in the spine and its nerves and muscles. They tend to want to cut out the problem instead of finding the source and working with that. Go talk to a Chiropractor first and have he/her diagnose your back problem. Like I said, sometimes things are bad enough that you will need surgery but do not jump to that until a back doctor, chiropractor, tells you to. After working for a chiropractor for 6 years I have seen people who were told they needed surgery recover and have much less pain without having the surgery.
And don't let anyone tell you that a Chiropractor is not a real doctor or that they will hurt you. Those people are misinformed or had a rare bad experience. I have it on authority from several people that chiropractic school is harder than med school and many people who drop out of chiropractic school go the med school because it is easier.
Good luck!

I have a very good chiropractor and he does wonders for my back. The doctors figured after my car wrecks that within a few years i would be using a cane and then onto a walker and finally a wheelchair. That was in 1986 and i am still going on my own. I have run into a few not so good ones, but i have a lot of really good chirpropatrors and a very outstanding ositeopatch (spelling ) He can give you shots for pain. Surgery is out of the question since i am allerigic to metal.

I am not sure, have you had any cortison injection of the back? You have to ask couple doctors' suggestion, if they suggest surgery is the only option, you might need to go for it; or you can find an excellent doctor knowing how to do acupucture; but they have to be expert and licensed. Be sure of that. I really wish you luck.
