Texting is more of a new version of passing notes in class. I think each generation of kids have their own distractions in school

I recently wrote a paper for my college composition class on my generation and whether or not technology is hindering us. Of course, I don't think it's hindering me personally--but others--especially the kids still in school--seem to be dumbed down by technology.

Kids have cell phones at 8 years old! What is wrong with parents is the question that needs to be asked. Kids are getting iphones and laptops for christmas and $100 for Easter! I would have been lucky to get $100 from my bday and xmas combined and I didn't complain!

It is a combination of reasons to a point teachers are responsible for allowing cell phones in the class, and so are the inventors of the cell phone lol. I am just glad my 2 year old can not use a cell phone just yet. And yet some of the parents are to blame I can see getting a teenager a cell phone for emergencies only but to sit at home and phone and text your friends when there is already a house phone and a computer is beyond me. Little children should not be able to have such tech at a young age.
