Sorry you were burned! Have you tried putting the aloe vera in the fridge? It'll help soothe the pain temporarily. You have to keep applying it to the skin throughout the day to help it heal

I got sunburned really bad last year and I used straight apple cider vinegar. You might want to try diluting it with water at first and see if that does anything. I sprayed that, then I let it air dry and put aloe vera gel on it. It kept me from peeling and offered a great cooling to the sunburnt areas.

You may need to put aloe vera on your skin several times before you see good results.  In other words, if you put the aloe on your sunburns at 2:00 pm, then you may need to reapply it at 4:00 pm, 6:00 pm, and 8:00 pm.  Get the idea?

I have always used vinegar mixed with a little water.  Spray it on.  That helped me, but I try to stay out of sun, as much as possible anymore.  Good luck.

Use cold compresses in the worst areas.  Don't put the ice packs (or gel packs) directly on the skin - wrap them in a towel first.  A sunburn is basically like any other burn you get - the burn continues through the skin until you can stop the heat from the burn from penetrating.  So applying cold compresses for 20 minute stretches should help stop that reducing further damage being done.

The next thing to address is how the burn dried your skin out.  Using aloe straight from the plant is best, but I found for me, any lotion that contains aloe in it works well too.  Use the lotion lavishly throughout - put some on whenever you start feeling "crispy" again - as that means the last application has all been absorbed and your skin is trying out again.  I'd recommend continuing to apply lotion through the "pealing" process too.  I found the more consistent I was with using lotion, the less pealing I experienced.

Also, as someone noted above, put the lotion in the refrigerator so it's cool when applied - at least when you are still trying to stop the "burn" feeling from spreading.

Sun burn's aren't fun, aloe vera works the best, does depend how bad you got burnt.  :sad1:

:- I suggested with that sunburn you'd better dip yourself in warm water 15 minutes a day, after that use aloe, drink milk as much as you can and fruit to help recover your skin to not leave scars.
