Such a simple question that is honestly hard to answer for most I would imagine.  At my current line of reasoning I would say that governments have less say in the lives of people, and thus the people have to be responsible for themselves -- and for as much as they wish, those around them.  Once people 'get' to live, and for some 'have' to live, things will start to improve.  I know this is a somewhat simplistic answer, but I think we often try to over-complicate matters and thus cause most of our own problems as well as problems for others that were never involved in the original event or condition that generated the previous complexity.
There are only 10 types of people in the world:  those who understand binary, and those who don't.

What would make the world a better place is that people should stop hating, stop the violence, and do right by others; that is what I think.

Leaders who aren't addicted to power and who don't try to legislate their personal morality. Separation of church and state has to be clearly defined. We're better off than other countries, but still have a ways to go. At least we don't put people to death for criticizing god.

I think we all need to learn more about all cultures so people can understand everyone.
