Have you been Baptized?
« on: April 21, 2012, 08:44:31 pm »
Do you know Jesus was not baptized when he was a baby but when he was a grown man?

If you were baptized when you were a baby I would consider baptizing again at a Christian church. When you were a baby you didn't know what was going on, so I don't think that counts at all  :'(  What do you think?

think in many churches you are baptised as a baby to give you a protection from the bad out there and then if you are brought up in the church you get baptised again either as a child or as a teenager. Also when you have communion you are taking in Jesus body and drinking his blood so you are cleansing your soul.

No, thanks, the church has had it's power over the people far to long & 1 dunking & near drowning is enough w/me! In fact I'm so fed up with the double standards & hyp. of it all. I denounce the religion passed on by my parents to being my own person of learning the truth. I think children should have a right to chose their own religion or  choice not to join any kind of church. I mean life so unfair, being born into  world you didn't ask to be born in. Then you find yourself being drowned in a large bowl w/on lookers watching this as you continue to be dunked in  & out of out of that bowl. Not way, am I staying in the church! I'm joining Agnostic group. :peace:  :peace:

I was baptized when I was a baby, and have not been baptized since. In my opinion, baptism is an outward expression of an inward change. That being said, there are people who have accepted Christ as Lord and Savior who have not been baptized. On the flip side, some people have been baptized, but still remain unchanged. God looks at the heart, not necessarily if one has been baptized.

"Baptism" is one of the most insidious indoctrination rituals among the various 'magical' rituals abounding in xtianity.  It most definitely is not done with the informed consent of the youngest ones being half-drowned, (that's why so many babies cry when it's done).  It's inflicted upon them by superstitious parents/grandparents/Spanish Inquisitors.

At least you get to choose now.

One can lead a horse to water however, if one holds the horse's head under, that horse will drown.

My mom baptized me when I was little, but I was never baptized in a Church.

I do agree with you though.  People should choose what they want to believe or not.  Just cause you are brought up as one thing doesn't mean you are that in my mind.  I've known people who were brought up Catholic who aren't Catholic outside of the Church.  I would rather someone have no official religion who follows something then someone who runs around flaunting their religion and yet they don't follow it.

I was baptized Catholic, but I believe when you're old enough to make your own choices, you should convert to what fulfills your heart.
