« on: April 09, 2012, 05:05:46 pm »
NOW WHOLESALE STORE THEY ALL SALE 3 D HDTVs. Did any one know what brand is better. Buy a 3 D TV WHAT I need to consider before I take the plunge into the third dimension with a new 3D HDTV. Where is 3D TV Headed? Did anyone owe a 3D TV already? How you felt about it?

I would never buy new technology until it is proven. I normally don't buy anything new until it is at least 1 year old to see the reviews. I really don't think 3D is going to be popular anyway, I have heard it is very expensive to make 3D movies and I don't see too many of them coming out lately.

I agree with jwallbank.  I normally wait a bit before jumping into new technology so they can work out all the kinks that they missed in the testing phases.  I really don't think it's gonna last, but maybe that's just me.

One thing to consider is what you are doing with the TV though.  I mean, do you want to hang it on the wall?  I was looking at regular LCD once and some didn't have a way to mount it.  Other didn't have some ports I needed.  It might not seem like a big deal, but it can change things.

I may be old fashioned but 3D movies have never been easy to watch for me. It gives me headaches and It is hard to wear the 3D glasses over my regular glasses. I very rarely go to see the 3D movies because I know I won't enjoy them as much and usually end up missing part of the movie. If this is the technology for the future I think I will pass. At least it means cheaper technology for me if I don't make the switch.

I've been researching this too, and from what I can tell the technology is still pretty new.  Some technofiles really love it, and the television sets are more expensive.  The downside is there really isn't that much available in 3D content yet to make it worth my while to buy one...unless I get a super sweet deal.

Right now I'm torn between shelling out the extra cash to get an internet connected TV ("smart tv") or get a regular flat screen and then pickup a Roku/Apple TV/internet connected DVD or Blu-ray player to connect to it.  I see more value with the internet capability with all the streaming stuff out there vs the 3D technology.

Talking with my brother the other day - I like his idea about skipping the 3D TV and waiting for the holographic TV.    ;D

jwallbank, I completely agree.  The 3D craze is a gimmick in my eyes; I hope it doesn't last.  Technology such as this needs to improve by leaps and bounds for me to consider it.  Right now it is just more of a hindrance.
