I think it's a good program. It's pretty easy to follow and there are a ton of recipes to try too. I lost 25 lbs a few years ago and kept it off. I was going to go back on it soon though to lose a little more so good luck to you!

as a Registered Dietitian and a weight watcher member.... I have to say it's not a fad diet
the website was upgraded just this past month and things are good there -- there is a lot of information and can take a while to learn to navigate
they also have POINTS PLUS 2012 now... allowing a bit more flexibility.

The weight watcher philosophy is very simple, balanced/adequate diet with exercise and the "groups" (or online community) is your support and your accountability.  No one wants to walk into a group and have gained weight!  :)  plus the sharing of great ideas, successes, etc.

I strongly suggest trying the 3-month online, you will get the tools and you can buy the points calculator from their site and then you can learn how to calculate your points, etc.  IF you have ever read food labels, weighed foods, etc you can handle this but if you have never been disciplined then maybe the 'online' program won't work from you.

Good Luck!

I took the plunge and joined for 3 month trial.  It is an easy program to follow and has already given me good direction but I have a lot to learn.  I only have about 20 pounds to loose and that may not sound like a lot but I go up and down and sometimes it is more like 30 ... I am a small frame person so it makes it difficult to loose.  My life has been in such turmoil it is hard to concentrate and eat right but I am really trying.  Thank you for your everyone's advice.  I DO appreciate it!

I have never joined or even tried weight watchers.   I am too frugal to pay someone for something that I can do at home.  I know people that have went on the diets but not actually join.

Nah, I prefer to simply go with the balanced diet approach.  Definitely not any fad diets.  The problem, even with things like Weight Watchers, is if you go off that diet you gain the weight right back.
Lmao ! You obviously don't know anything about weight watchers if you are calling it a "fad diet". I have never used it myself but at least I know it is about information and is not a "fad diet"...

I know people who have done it and have quit shortly after, they basically just put you on a points system related to how many calories your suppose to eat, have meetings, and weigh you in. So minus the meetings you can do everything on your own but it may motivate you, its a personal decision.
