Absolutely. It has taken years to break some of the hold my mother has had on my life. But I still make sure my house is orderly when she comes over. I have to be presentable anytime we go anywhere. Some things you can't shake that your parents have taught you. It is a part of your DNA. It is always a work in progress to be me. :angel11:

Not much, because growing up , they're mostly wrong about pretty much everything. They are a prisoner of social norms or ethics. Esp. mom, anything the news says she'll believe it. As most kid do, when their parents tell them to do something or advise them about something. The kid will automatically, do the opposite thing that the parents wants. Some parents are dumb that way, the more they disagree or tell the kid is wrong, the more the kid will defy the parent. Smart parents would use reverse psychology.

Yes, I do care what my mom thinks.  Since my dad passed away about 10 years ago she is my only parent left.

Her opinion does matter ... she does, however, understand that I am a grown up and will ultimately make my own
choice - whether it be what she agrees with or not.  But... she is used to that .. I have always independent .. even
as a child and she respects the fact that in the end my decisions need to be mine.
