So...is anyone surprised by results? was it "setup"/doomed to fail? Was it even a "failure" so to speak? Thoughts??

I get the distinct impression that it was a political compromise, intended to fix the blame rather the the problem.  So basically, same stuff - different day.

Not necessarily a set-up. More like a chance for them to show the country whose interests they favor. And they failed. I expected it. To put the defeat of the man in the WH above the interest of the country is treasonous in my opinion.
