To vaccinate or not to vaccinate

Do you or your kids get vaccines? Why or why not? I'm trying to decide on this issue since I hear compelling stories on either side.

Me and my brother went to the doctor just to get flu shots because we don't want to deal with the flu

I hear that the new vaccinations are what's causing all the autism and other things in children now a days. My kids are older now but if I had known that, I would have had to think about it very seriously.  Thank God mine turned out ok.

My older kids all had their vaccines. My baby is 4 mos tomorrow and has his appointment. I've heard the autism theory and I've heard the theory that the gov't wouldn't admit it if the vaccines caused it. To be honest, I wouldn't put it past them. I've also heard that most of the illnesses they are vaccinated against are eradicated. However, someone also told me about a place she'd heard about that thought the illnesses were eradicated and chose to be more lenient about requiring vaccinations. Then, the illnesses came back. There are times when I think that our gov't thinks it needs to hold our hands and tell us what to do because they think we're not capable of choosing for ourselves. Sometimes, it seems that our society wants to eradicate all the pain and stuff that comes with life- as if we could avoid it all. I recently read an article that said vaccinated kids actually get sick more often.  :dontknow:
