Homemade Dog Treats..

Dog Treats

Fido will love chomping on these tasty & healthy treats! And well I know someone here whos doggies will love these mine do!! ;)

biscuit dough:
1 1/2 cups flour
3/4 cup oatmeal
1/4 cup wheat germ
1/3 cup peanut butter
1/4 cup vegetable oil
2 Tablespoons honey
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 cup water

glaze:
1 large egg
2 Tablespoons milk

1. Preheat the oven to 275°.
2. In a large bowl: combine the flour, oatmeal, wheat germ, peanut butter, vegetable oil, honey, baking powder and water.
3. Mix the ingredients until thoroughly combined.
4. Roll the dough out to a ½-inch thick on a lightly floured surface. Cut into desired shapes and place on baking sheets.
5. In a small bowl, mix together the egg and milk. Brush the glaze on the biscuits.
6. Bake for 30 minutes. Rotate the pans, and bake for an additional 20 - 30 minutes, until biscuits are golden and firm.

sounds great, but we hardly cook for ourselves any more ... crockpot a chicken or broil a burger.  we graze ... but the recipe sounds really great and in my healthy days when i could navigate, i would have jumped on it like a dog on a bone!  chuckle.

I might have to try your recipe. The last time I made one from online the dog buried them but never did eat them. lol

To hell with the dog. I think I will eat them myself. Sounds healthy too. Thanks for the receipe

Sounds good and I will try the recipe.  Where does a person get wheat germ though?

The wheat germ is  with the ceral in a jar.  I think I will make some for my puppies for Christmas

 ;D I am so glad so many of you will try it ..My dogs love it I make them as their holiday treats so expensive for something for dogs so why not make something healthy..My dogs are my testers for my treats lol..had a few they lost on purpose lol but this is one they actually eat really fast and try to steal from each other LMAO

I would make them but my Vet said that it's best to give my dog veggies - she loves baby carrots!

My dog should eat veggies- he is starting to get a little heavy. Maybe I will make little cookies!
