when do you start christmas shopping

Well... It depend on If you want to take advantage of the Holiday sales, then you might want to wait until after Thanksgiving that will give you a better deal for your money.

I sort of buy sale items year round, but don't buy much (just for my niece and nephews). I dont like the crazy shopping that begins after Thanksgiving!

I have two out of the three kids done.  Thank God they are old enough to just tell me what they want and we just get it.  Although the Santa Claus stage was nice, but it takes the pressure off some.

Never!  Three years ago I decided to not buy anymore Christmas presents to make greedy merchants rich who profit off of holidays. So far, nobody has minded and even told me that they are thinking of doing the same thing. The hype is too much and everybody wants more more more. Christmas is not about gift giving, but to celebrate He who gave the greatest gift of all!

I don't really give gifts to the adults in my family, but I have four younger brothers and a nephew that I buy gifts for.  I usually start looking in September, but wait to see what the Black Friday sales are going to be like.

I started my layaways at Kmart and soon at Walmart.   I need to start one more layaway, I think it might be at Toy R Us.

I am glad to hear that I am not the only one that forgets where I put the gifts.  My big thing is if I come across the perfect thing for someone to buy it and save it for christmas.  I don't get everybody something necessarily (always buy for the kids)  or sometimes they are little gestures/surprises that make them smile.  Not about the item but the thought.  BUT when I find that perfect thing that screams someone's name and it is a good enough deal, I love to purchase it and save it.   What a shame when I forget or can't find it!  LOL   I really should keep a list somewhere . . . still have a niece's unique birthday gift from 2 years ago that I found months before here birthday!  Then couldn't find, so figured christmas, then couldn't find so thought next birthday . . . well didn't find it but I did now!  And I am anxiously waiting for this Christmas!  Luckily it was such a unique gift for her that it still applies even though she is a couple years older! LOL  It does help the budget picking things up here and there too.

I start compiling ideas about now, but don't start my shopping until after thanksgiving.  We have a large family so we draw names at thanksgiving, instead of getting everyone a gift.  So I have to wait to see whose names I have before I can shop!
