There is a lot for children to learn. They should have sufficient time to learn it, not cram it in to a shorter time.

I assume that if they go for four days, their days will be longer.  I think the days are long enough.  Any longer and it will be harder for them to concentrate.

kids need to go 5 days because they will lose concentration by school's day end if their at school so long.

I think it be great if i was still a kid.  BUt now i am a parent and I work during the week, and to find daycare for an extra day a week would be a pain in the but.

I could take or leave it. Many classes I took were a joke and could really have been sped up and still include the same content. I read the book and did my homework and it seemed like a very slow pace for many classes I took. There should be help available for those that learn at a slower pace rather than making all the kids in the class learn at the slower pace just to cater to a few students out of thirty or so. I would have been incredibly happy to have a three day weekend when I was in high school as I was pretty miserable at school with teasing and bullying all week. I would have rather just got through the material quickly and been done with it.

I haven't really followed that subject close enough to give a fair answer. But, I will look into it.

It works out well for me and our kids. Not a problem here.

I'm in favor of the 4 day school week if that also means we get a 4 day work week :)

The school district I live in wants to switch to the 4 day a week schedule. They say they'll add time onto each day to make up for the 5th day. Our school district just started charging  families $1 each way per student to take the bus to/from the school. So, if I were to send my 3 kids that are in school on the bus, it would be $6/day. Also, they want to save on utilities and/or have more teacher work days. A school district or two near us have done this for years and it really hasn't been a problem for the working parents. They don't need day care the other 4 days of the week because their kids are in school the entire day the parents are at work. Some parents have worked out a 4 day a week work schedule with their employers and others have found day care that is available the one day a week. Still, I'm not sure how I feel about this.
