Hey guys. I'm new here (first day) and I just finished a IQ test and had to verify a PIN number to receive my score. Then I got a text saying i subscribed to a program that charges 9.99 a month and data rates... I cancelled immediately, but will they still charge me?

Call your cell phone company and let them know that you are not approving any text message subscriptions.  Then next time you get a text like that, don't respond....don't even text them stop.  By you responding, that gives the third party a chance to charge you.  My cell phone company told me not to ever reply.  Since then, I've never been charged.

Usually when you have to enter your phone number on something there is a link on that page that says skip or no thanks somewhere. They like to hide them, so you think you have to enter your phone number. The link is usually in the upper right corner or all the way on the bottom. It's normally either really small or the color is something that you wouldn't notice. They like to get you like that.

@bessie1111 this is a great tip I usually never put my phone number cell or land line in an offer as I do not trust that I will not be charged ya never know so I am going to call my provider an have them put a block on such text offers as you suggest so it is better to be safe than sorry Thanks for the tip.

ti agree i never give out anything that asks for a pin # from me. It is just smart because as you found out there are a lot of deceptive programs out there just trying to make money why you do a simple iq test.

I can't reconcile why even seemingly good survey sites contain these deceptive, questionable "surveys."   I have learned to be very, very careful what I click on.

its best not to trust any of the offers that require a phone number of any kind.  if you absolutely feel the need to do them though, you could always just buy a cheap prepaid cell phone from somewhere like Family Dollar and give that number for the ones that need a confirm phone number.
