My husband has been disabled for several years now with physical disabilities.  His depression keeps getting worse.  His doctor keeps adjusting and changing his medication.  That helps for a while but then doesn't seem to work for him anymore.  Just filling the prescription is enough to cause a major setback.  The new medication he is taking is $150 for a 30-day supply.  His prescription plan won't cover the cost because it is a new drug.   Needless-to-say, his dark moods really affect me and my attitude.  There are times that I feel myself becoming depressed because of his depression!  I just wish there was something else I could do.  His depression has gotten a lot worse since my previous job was eliminated.  I made three times more at that job.  Does anyone have any suggestions or advice on how to live with a depressed spouse?
Have a wonderful day!

Having been diagnosed with depression over a year ago myself (and on disability also)the first thing I would do is talk to the dr and see if there is a generic alternative If not and even if there is for that matter there is a discount drug card that offers card holders 10-59% off on prescription and generic drugs and best of all ITS FREE and is nationwide (I didn't believe it either but I got it at the Dr's office) the website is www.sunnyallday.com good luck!!

I really feel for you, because my husband has to put up with me.  I have been disabled for the last eight years and my
depression is getting better.  It takes one day at a time and you have to know when you need help with depression.  I started out going to the doctors, thinking that I will get better and return to work full-time.  When only when my doctors told me that I might not ever go back to work full-time and I need to face reality.  Enough about me I hope you can cope with your love one and help them with their depression it is not easy.
