Cats & Dogs, Roommates?

Hey, pet owners, I have 2 adult cats that were strays. It's been about 5 yrs but they're still weary around new people & animals. I'm thinking about adopting a dog. A big dog like a german shepherd,massive,great dane,mountain dog, saint bernard, &/or working dogs. Forget the little/tiny ugly dogs that do nothing but yapp & bark. The cats would toss it around like they do with their cat *bleep* & cat toys. Anyone with experience in this area please enlighten me. The last thing i wish to do is to have to return the dog.Thanks... (homeowners)(newbie room mate)
