I think facebook is a great way to keep in touch with people that you otherwise thought you lost.  I really started it because my older brother said he didn't have time to call.  Now I've been constantly talking to old friends I haven't seen since high school.  Sometimes you just don't have the time to make that phone call but at least with facebook you haven't lost that connection.

Now I have multiple facebooks for different functions. One for Politics, one for blog following, one for personal contacts, one for business, etc. ... i handle them all thru hootsuite so don't have to log in and out and log in.
