So much "news" these days is interested only in ratings (and therefore money.)  You have to have a fresh story every week or so.  Pretty sad, really.

Your first problem is relying on the mainstream US media for news.  Try NTN for news from Japan.

THANKS GUYS FOR RESPONDING..........BUT...i think the media ment it cut the news off us....there's 40 countries effected by the radiation...these countries are really in deep export and inport with all world wide......its all about the money...so u they keep u buying the product still....im just tilling everyone..DONT buy any food from Asia...
OR ASIA Food....like vegs cans..Tuna Cans...ect...

I hadn't thought about it but you are right. I haven't been hearing about the recovery in Japan much at all. Honestly I think that natural disasters happen all the time in different countries around the world and they don't get much press in the US. It is surprising that there was a lot of press on the earthquake in Japan at least at first.

Main stream media got bored of following it and so Japan's nuclear crisis (which is still going on and getting worse since a few days ago it came out that one of the reactors is more badly damaged than previously thought) is left in the dust.  Don't forget, the media is all about the ratings, so they seek out the freshest news that people are most likely to read, not the most important news.
