Account getting banned?

Hi. My account was on hold so i sent a ticket asking them y it was on hold. They told me that someone else signed up twice from my referral link and that it might cause my account to be closed. Has it ever happened to anyone? and why is it that you get banned for being a victim? Is it really fair for u getting banned because of this stupid guy signing up twice from ur referal? Please respond
