If you are unemployed, how long have you been?
« on: May 15, 2010, 10:46:12 am »
Looking to see what the outcome is for those that are unemployed and looking for work. I recently lost my job so I am in the job market pool. Just want to see what it is like out there.

It's be 2 years in september. Where I'm from they have stop the unemployment checks because congress is trying to decide wheather to  apply for more money or not. I am going on my second week without money and I don't know what I'm going to do. I still have bills. I know a few people who have not gotting a check in 3 weeks now.  I don't know what congress is going to do about all this. They sitting up there debating about it and people need money to pay there bills. :-[

I lost my job in 8/2008 and am still unemployed. I even took a class thinking it might work, no dice. Thanks Congress for not passing the extentions.

My husband became unemployed back in October of last year and has had trouble finding anything steady to do since then.  He is truck driver so he has no college education.  I'm not sure if having a degree helps at this point or not.  We have a friend that is a nurse and she has had trouble finding full time employment since loosing her job back last August.  But best of luck to you anyway.

I was laid off Sept 30 of 2009.  I have only worked four months as a temp since then.  When I was working as a temp I was receiving 3 dollars more a week from working 40 hours a week as I was on unemployment.  It was actually costing me to go to work because I had to buy gas for my venhicle to get there.  All that seems to be out there is minimum wage jobs.  I used to make 25 an hour and I don't think I'll ever make that much money again...not in today's job market.

Most jobs out there don't even pay 12 an hour and how in the world can a person live on that?  It takes two incomes to make ends meet but what about single people?  And there are a lot of jobs that won't give you 40 hours a weeks because they can avoid paying benefits.   :BangHead:

It's been a bit over two years for me as well, so I'm hoping that I can get Work-Study with the community college I'm applying to.  At least I'll have a job then.

I have been unemployed since the November 2010 and I am looking for work but, in the small town I'm in and the small surrounding towns there seems to be nothing. I have looked and looked and I am tired of looking for nothing. I have looked in to the jobs at home but, they want money. I thought a job payed you not the other way around. I have nothing to give them.

Ive been unemployed since 2005. I had my first child. My husband agreed if i find a job  i can continue to stay at home and take care of the kids. Well I decided to take some Realestate courses. I graduated in 2008 around the same time the market crashed or a couple of months before. Agents/Brokers are not in demand right now. So here i go still unemployed. I have been searching and searching for something to do so i can still stay at home. Finally I got a breakthrough in 2010 i got a contract as a Parent Trainer and i  trainer professionals( ect) from a parent point of view
for childhood development. Thank God and I love it. I wish u the best. Never give up. Keep on keepin on.

I have been unemployed for so long I do not remember the last time i worked maybe 10 years ago. I got messed up physically. I knew I had something terribly wrong, but the doctors treated me like I was crazy. Turned out I was having gall stone attacks which are extremely painful. I was left to suffer for years and almost died. Now I live in poverty and am pretty depressed. I do not feel well enough for work yet public housing keeps raising my rent. Last increase was 40 dollars. I cannot afford anything on SSI. I am pretty stuck
