Invitation Print
« on: March 15, 2011, 08:03:18 pm »
So I have had this print (Invitation) hanging in my office for over a year and half and this past weekend my fiancee made a comment about putting something else where it is because he finds it blasphemous. Now I was raised Catholic, decently religious, is he just being too serious over this? I like it cause it has all the greats, different spin on a piece of art.

Oh and PS we have 2 other solo pictures of Marilyn, 2 pictures of Marilyn/Elvis/James/Bogie shooting pool, 1 of the Rat Pack and 1 of Johnny Cash also hanging.

I would say he's overreacting. Though maybe not the greatest example, it's like you putting this in your office

and an Obama supporter telling you to take it down because they find it offensive to the original message. It's just a parody. Besides, your pic above is pretty kickass I must say. Take a lesson from Clark Gable and tell him "Quite frankly my dear, I don't give a damn!". Unless he starts crying.

I've gotta agree with Falconer...your beau needs to take a chill pill.  Life is serious enough.  At least let art be art and allow the artist to express him- or herself in any way he or she wishes.

Besides, relationships are PARTNERships, not DICATORships.

Falconer mentioned Clark Gable, but you could also direct him to the left (Laurel & Hardy) or right (Groucho Marx) of the print and tell your man to emulate their light-hearted attitudes and sense of humor, if only for this one time!
