Chevy Volt
« on: March 09, 2011, 10:19:25 am »
I went to a RV Show over the weekend and saw the chevy volt on display. I am not impressed. I thought this was suppose to be a total electric car!!It is really a hybrid with a High sticker price. You can only get approx 40 miles on a full charge and it takes approximately 8 hours to charge it from full discharge. It would take you a week if you traveled 500 miles, if you used total electric and then where are you going to charge it. The sticker price is 39,000 base and the model I was looking at with extra's was 44,000. The car is small and no leg room in the back seat. You would be better off with a toyota corolla. I don't believe chevy is pushing this vehicle, there is no plug in stations on the road in the Northeast that I can see, and if you charge at home, it is only going to get you 40m and then you have to go to gas, which it estimates 36mpg.

Your Right, I also thought that the Volt is supposed to be all electric.  Come On Chevy and build a car that is all electric and gets gets great gas/battery milage.

I dont see whats so great with it either. For me if there was a whole hell of lot more room it would be great for going back and forth to work since work is only a 21 mile round trip. but would end up eating gas otherwise. I guess 36 mpg is good considering we get 20 with out truck. but they need something with a LOT more room
