The Chevy Volt or the Ford  Fusion are Hybrid vehicles and are supposed to be the top rated fuel  efficient cars of 2011. At least for American made vehicles. I wouldn't recommend anything else though. My father-in-law owns a Hybrid Chevy Silverado and it gets 30 miles to the gallon with a V8 engine. So can you imagine the gas mileage on a small car like the Volt or Fusion?

hmmm...see, i'm so wrapped up in vw's that my bias doesn't allow me to embrace other options that may be better out there.  although i must say that my 2010 jetta gets pretty amazing fuel economy being a diesel, but i know that there are other BETTEr things out there...i just don't want to admit it yet. :-

You might want to check out the fully electric cars or the hybrids.

I heard about the Chevy Volt at Christmas time and have not heard much about it now.  What would be great is having a car that can go further than 300 miles.  I enjoy road trips and to take this car would be great.

I recently saw a review of the Chevrolet Volt on twitter. The writer said that Chevy will have a few small things to improve for next year but that he felt they really did their homework and got it right. On an average 300 mile trip it shoul average 50 to 60 mpg depending on the driver. Of course for short daily commutes it will use only electric and will not use any gas at all. That will be my next car. :)
