Hands down - was a camping trip with some friends (Spring Break in college).  We drove to Orlando, FL and were planning to to Disney World, then hit Daytona Beach on the way back.  We decided to save money by camping, so we rented a popup camper.

The trip started off with an omen...we watched an Animaniacs cartoon ep where the gang was going on an adventure, and their motto was "It's not just a mistake, it's an adventure!"

Well, we made it safely to FL, but once there, it took us 4 hours to find our campground that was only supposed to be 15 minutes from the gas station we stopped at...

Then once in, we got directions to our camp site.  Take the first left and find the site - not too difficult.  Only problem was the first left turned out to be a very wide footpath (not marked at all), not the road to the campsites.  After driving down it for about a mile, we realized this was not the road and it started narrowing, until we got stopped by a chain fence.

We were in a van, pulling a camper, on sandy soil.  No way to turn around.  So we ended up unhitching the camper, pushing it back to a small clearing by the corner of a bend, then managed to get the van turned around.  Then we realized that leaving the camper sitting on sand was not a smart thing to do when we had to try to hitch it back up to the van...as it had sunk into the sand a bit.  How we managed to get it lifted back on, I'll never know.

We finally made it out and found the right road to the campsite - and got setup.  8 hours from our "short trip" from the gas station to the camp site.

That's when we dubbed our revised Anamaniac's motto for our trip..."It's not just an adventure, it was a mistake!"

After that, we had other "issues" with a couple people in our group that turned out to be very whiny and complained the rest of the week, but I don't want to get into that novel.

Let's just say, I'll never forget that trip.

I had been all over Mexico, and was finally flying out of Morelia to Alcapulco for some much needed R&R with friends.  The airline lost my luggage for the second time.  It happens, but I had only my overnight bag with me for almost 2 weeks.

A lady in our party loved the fresh squeezed orange juice she got every morning.  One morning she happened to look very closely at the pulp in the bottom of the glass and saw tiny worms swimming around. I'm quite allergic to oranges so I escaped that situation.  We got the trots even though we were so careful about the water.

Our pool was dirty and also had little things living in it.  This was a 4 star hotel a block from the beach!  I nearly drowned in the undertow in the ocean because the itty bitty sign down the beach was unreadable. I'm a very good swimmer, so got out okay, but had sand in every cavity of my body. Even a few grains embedded in my legs where the water turned me like a cork.

We bought some "local" suntan lotion from the many young boys hawking it on the beach.  It instantly dyed our bodies a rusty orange, and worse on our hands. Even after a scrubbing shower, an orange tint remained.

Lizards got into the room even though we were on the top floor.  I'm not a reptile person, and kept waking up to see if they were anywhere in our room...yuck!

I have to say though, it was beautiful, and did some para sailing for the first time in my life.  We swam in another hotels pool, and they let us if we bought lunch or appetizers out by the pool.  It was worth it just to have a clean pool.

I have at least 50 travel stories and experiences that are funny, and some not so much.  I'm thinking of writing a book after I retire for good.
