« on: January 06, 2011, 02:22:38 pm »
I have a idea...LMAO...I do so so so many crafts and I am over doing lots of them I sold a few to friends online and such..Now I am thinking off possibly setting up a thing for selling others..I worry a lot of not being able to reproduce the same over and over or having only one craft item..( due too materials are no longer available)..I am so up and down about this but I really enjoy crafting and well I love when people want it..So What is your advice or opinion?? :notworthy: :peace:

Have you checked out Etsy.com... it is a marketplace for buying and selling art and craft items on-line. You could create a shop there in order to sell your extra items (and you could snoop around to see what the going prices are for your kind of items). I'd suggest you also set up a blog (easiest way to get a free web-site) in which you can promote your designs. Then provide links to your Etsy store so people can purchase items. You maybe also be able to set up a way to contact you for personalized orders... I wouldn't worry too much if everything isn't always the same; that's one of the nice things about arts and crafts -- the creativity and uniqueness makes each piece special.

I would also suggest Etsy. I have a few friends who sell their stuff on there and they do pretty well.

i have an etsy shop and just started a blog.
look around on etsy first (they have lots of tips on
how to run a successful shop in their forums/blogs)

they're fees are much, MUCH more reasonable than
ebay, at merely 20 cents per listing. putting yourself
out there can be intimidating, but i just read an article
today about "fearless creativity" and it was really
helpful, especially for an over-analyzer like me:
http://www.etsy.com/storque/seller-handbook/fearless-creativity-11526/?ref=fp_blog_title

good luck!
[ we all have a place in history. mine is in the clouds. ]

with today's economy you will probably just have to stick with keeping crafts as a hobby :(

also consider setting up a facebook page. you can make your personal info private but make your photo albums public and tag the photos with words that will pop up in search so that lots of people see your photos. i had made a really cool dragon cake for my sons birthday and had posted it on facebook for my friends and family to see. well someone commented on the photo which enabled one of their friends to see it who shared it with some one else and so on and so on and eventually i ended up with 4 messages in my inbox asking where i lived, how they could order and cake and how much would it cost. 2 of them lived nearby and i was able to sell them cakes and $60 each. they loved them and posted pictures on their own pages and that started other people asking me for other kinds of cakes and now i'm looking into getting a business license so that i can legally sell my baked goods.
