Darnest Things Kids Say
« on: January 15, 2011, 05:16:50 pm »
I think all parents should ban together and create an ongoing novel of all the hilarious things our kids say.

At dinner this evening my three year old daughter asked me what power was. I had previously lectured the kids about leaving on every single light in the house and how power costs money, yada, yada. I tried to search for a definition that made sense to her and came up with "power turns on the lights, heater and coffee pot." My daughter looked at me with the most quizzical look and replied "Are you serious? I hope my power turns me on in the morning. I don't want to be sleeping." The entire moment just cracked me up.  ;D

Any moments you'd like to share?

My grandma has always been large, if ya know what I mean. and my grandpa would always joke that she was as big as an elephant. Well they took me and my younger brother to the zoo and we got to the elephant ride and my brother looked at it and looked back at my grandma and said to my grandpa " mema ain't as big as an elephant! " he yelled this in a large crowd of people and was completely serious and everyone was just laughing.

My Aunt told us this story about one of my cousins when he was about 2 or 3 years old...

My cousin loved trucks - all kinds.  But his absolute favorite were dump trucks.  Played with his toy dump trucks all the time and took them with him everywhere.  He was just starting to speak, and was having a little difficulty with saying certain sounds.  For instance, when he tried to say the word dump - he couldn't pronounce the "p" sound at the end, so it came out like "dumb".  He also had problems with the "tr" sound - that came out more like an "f" - instead of train, fain...instead of truck...well, you get the picture.   ;)

So knowing this, my Aunt was driving down the city and got stopped in front of a large construction site - you guessed it - full of dump trucks, which to my Aunt's embarrassment, my cousin started screaming and pointing out the back window: "Dump Truck!  Dump Truck!"....only it sounded like, well, you know...   ;D

My daughter, when she was about 6, told her grandfather to 'man up'.  She didn't know what it ment and I think she heard it on the Disney Channel.  She got in trouble and her grandfather couldn't stop laughting about it.

once when my son was very young, he was playing with his lego pirate figures.  his created script for the opposing pirates went something like this:

"say your prayers Black Bart, 'cause you're gonna die."  "thank you God for this food.  amen."  pow pow pow!

My son was about 4 or 5 and playing with soldier in the tub, making them talk back and forth. I heard him say " No don't shoot me, I have kids!"
