Time Management
« on: November 03, 2010, 12:34:23 pm »
So I feel like with as much as I have going on, I need better tips on how to manage my time.  With work about 35 hours a week and 12 hours of school (excluding time set aside for homework) my house is a disaster.  help!

I feel like getting enough sleep would allow you to be more attentive to get work done faster. Even though you sacrifice sleep to work it hurts you more.

Though I'm not sure if you get enough sleep it might work if you dont.

do you have a planner? i've bought many of them,
thinking i would use them, and i've never been able to!
but i know others with hectic schedules who keep their
planner at their side as if it were a bible...

personally, i've found that if i go to bed an hour earlier
and wake up in the morning an hour earlier than i have to,
i can get quite a bit accomplished! tacking an extra hour
(or even two) onto your day is pretty easy.

giving myself time limits/deadlines is something i do too.
if i make myself believe that something has to be done by
a specific time, i can easily focus in on it. its challenging
in a way, and you feel really accomplished when you meet
little goals like that!

My best tips for time management: don't watch TV and find new ways to integrate work into your life.

I never had a TV in college, and now that I'm a professional and can afford digital cable and a TV, I don't buy them. Pretty much work all day, go to sleep, and repeat.

I also view my work as fun. When I get some "free" time (outside of a work assignment), I turn it into a good opportunity to get work done. When I go on vacation, I work the entire way there and back.

Have a second of downtime? Whip out your work computer and make sure things are going okay while you're away.
