keep your opinions to yourself. do as your told. pick a job you'd like to learn.  my experience in the army was a positive one you gain valuable experience and knowledge to get you thru the rest of your life. and they have alot of fun stuff to play with (play safely)

this is not a negative shot at you  but i always thought reading your posts you just had opinions but no life experience to go with those opinions. I think your doing a great thing joining the army good luck to you 502mania  :peace:

Well you must understand, most of my opinions are formed based on research. I'm still really young, ya know.

It's pretty much solid. i think it's the best way to start my life and open a lot of opportunities for me in the future. Also, i'd like to put some honor behind my name. I really want a job in intelligence or something of that nature.

Have you taken the ASVAB yet?
If not I highly highly highly suggest you study your butt off for it. A few points means a world of difference in what job you'll be placed in.

I was in the Marines, so while my experience is a bit different, it's still very simular. All I can say is the military is a big chance for you to really succeed in life if you play your cards correctly. If you do 4 years or 40 years, you're going to have life experiences that can not be given in the civilian world. You'll do things and see things that you'll have stories as well as friendships that will last a lifetime.

Like others said, you'll go farther the more you keep your mouth shut and ears open. And for heavens sake, iron your damn uniform! Us Marines love to make fun of the "nasty army" for having unpressed cammies and nasty looking boots.

B/T  basic training? basic training isnt that hard its just mind games   see how tough you are mentally just remember mind over matter. and no matter how silly it seems  it makes sense somewhere up the line. my uncle was military intelligence  he did measurements from pictures  like how high a bridge was or something like that   when he got out he had a great job in the pentagon.

dont overthink it 502mania it wont be as bad as you think. and as mattymatt79 says the higher you score on the test the more oppurtunities are there for you

Lol mattymatt79 youve seen me in uniform?  well we had more important things to do than worry about our attire :peace:  there were soldiers and good troops  i was a good troop someone had to do the work while others pressed thier uniforms and polished thier boots

Just a rib from a Marine to a Solider is all, no harm meant by it. I was a big fan of the corp of engineers when I was "out and about" in some of the large sandboxes of the world, a bridge built and some running water made the world of difference.

i've seen a lot of fucked up *bleep* some of our troops are doing over there in iraq. (not all of them). *bleep* like taunting children and teasing them with water. and i saw one soldier throw a puppy off a cliff. and just plain antagonizing innocent people. not EVERYONE is a terrorist or al Queada. If i was there i'm afraid i would have to hit a few guys dead in their mouths for some of that. But.... i probably wouldn't go to iraq anytime soon right?

Yeah probably not. But if that's the case and you do end up seeing things like this, please do sucker punch the *bleep* with some brass knuckles. I've seen the the puppy one and it burns me up to no end.

Do not join unless you are an officer.  Look at cadet programs and officer candidacy programs.
