Drugstore Errors

I use an independent pharmacy locally and today when I and my husband stopped to pick meds up the employee was in error regarding the date my pain meds could be filled ( I'm a leg amputee and suffer chronic pain), she became nasty and actually called my husband a liar! Well, my husband has a VERY bad temper about something like that, especially when he's 100 percent sure he's in the right and the other person is wrong - which is understandable to me even if I don't have a touchy temper (old school motorcycle gang emotions die hard - it's protected me from injury more than once!). We finally left without my husband being locked up (relief!!) but it ruined a beautiful day and tomorrow he and I both intend to speak with the owner who wasn't in today. We probably pay the rent on his store every month refilling both of our prescriptions ( In 2008 a woman on a cell phone T-boned us on our Harley - we have alot of scripts) Any advise on how to handle the owner? ThanksAll!

Just be truthful and honest with the owner. Tell him exactly what happend I'm sure he will understand! Wish you the best

 :cat:  So sorry that happened with you both.  I had a similar situation happen the other day.  Thank goodness it got worked out, but it was embarrassing. I'm on a lot of meds myself.  My hubby teases me that I pay the pharmacist's salary~!  I really hope it works out for you!

 Did you happen to hear about a CVS Pharmacy that refused a woman an inhaler during a severe asthma attack because they were a dollar short?  Makes you wonder doesn't it?

As long as you have all the proof that you are not refilling early and the owner can go back and see that you are faithful customers/you haven't refilled before the date in the future I'm sure it will all get sorted out.  I'd also make sure they reprimand the employee, she may have been having a bad day herself but she shouldn't have been rude to you.  Did she even bother to call your doctor, check the records on the computer, ask for your bottle to compare etc etc? :wave:

Whether she was having a bad day or not, you do not call a customer a liar.
Seems to me these pharmacy workers can never find the right info and blame the customer.

I'd calmly tell the owner what happened and what the employee said and that you feel it was inappropriate to be spoken to in that manner.

However you handle it, make sure to keep your temper under control when you deal with the owner.  If one of you loses your cool, it snowballs then everyone will become defensive and you will ultimately not get anywhere. 
I think the first thing you need to decide is what you want to accomplish by talking to the owner.  If you just want to vent, that's cool, but don't expect much to be done.  If you want the employee reprimanded, fired, or whatever else, make sure to voice that opinion (lightly, though, because the owner may be very attached to this employee-you can't be too sure).  If you'd like a discount on your prescriptions next time or something, which is a more likely solution that will make both sides feel better, see if you can bring that up at the end of your discussion.

I would probably also offer to have the doctor fax a letter (so you have a paper trail, which is hugely important in my experience) stating the specs around the scripts, dates, dosages, etc.  hope it all works out!

Refused an inhaler because $1 short? I hope the family sues their *bleep* off and shuts them down!! My husband has COPD so that's not a thing to refuse for any reason.

drugstore errors are not o.k. at all. omg. it can be very dangerous mixing medicines or even worst ,getting the wrong medicine, and possiblibly being allergic to them.

I would tell him/her that you have been with them for a long time and that you do not like being treated the way you were treated in his/her absence.  Then tell them exactly what happened. Make sure to have the old bottle of medicine with you that had the original date from the month before with you so you have your proof.  I would tell them that you do not appreciate the way that person treated you the customer which has happened to be a long time customer and if you think it would help the case tell them you are thinking of changing  drugstore's.    Weither you are in the right or in the wrong that person should not have treated you that way.  It has happened to me before and come to find out the same person had been reported by 2 other people for the same thing and we later found out that person was changing stuff in the computer to make it agree with them so its always good to have the original bottle from the month before to remain with you.  I will always keep the label from the bottle for proof. Plus the papers that comes with it.  Hope this helps you some.  So sorry you both were put through it.  But tell you hubby you are an awesome guy and take him out for something special.  Don't let something like that ruin your day or your plans just b/c that person is  :bootyshake:.  Have good day and God Bless You Both!   :wave:

After your speak w/ the owner, follow up in writing.  I agree that it is always best to have a paper trail.  Also, it the another pharmacy avaliable to use?  If I get poor service, I generally do not return to that store......ever!
