Red Wings signed Modano?

So the Detroit Red Wings signed Mike Madono for a one-year deal at $1.25 million.  While the motor city is known for rejuvinating older players, do you think Illitch let his feelings for the man overpower his reasoning?

He'll be playing on the third line, so it's not like he's going to get tons of minutes at his age.  Based on the experience he has and the homecoming possibly rejuvenating him a bit, for what they paid, they'd have been fools not to do it.
