Rice in Bottle

So I know people are all over the board with this.  When did you start putting rice in your childs bottle?  Did you skip the bottle and just do the spoon?  How'd it affect their tummys (diapers)?  Did it help them sleep?

Well no one had any response to this so here's what we ended up doing. 

Our son just turned 3 months, he'd eat 8 oz every 2 hours if we let him; we use my milk in a bottle - not always, he actually does both. He is above where his weight should be so we're not starving him - he actually doubled his birth weight in 2 mths.  His doctor recommended waiting until 4 months so we tried supplementing him with the infamil nighttime formula instead - I don't think it made a difference.  We tried cereal the other day and he loves it!  He has spit up a little bit more so we're cutting back on the amount of cereal but otherwise maybe, just maybe it will give us a few more hours of sleep at night.

I started putting rice cereal into my babies  bottles when they were about 4 months old per our pediatrician.  They started sleeping thru the night once I did that. I made sure I didn't put too much cereal in the bottle so they wouldn't choke. I also made the hole in the nipple bigger so the cereal could go thru.

I put rice cereal in my son's bottle around 3 months, and a soft boiled egg sometimes for breakfast (yellow part).  Didn't seem to hurt him.  He's turning 42 September 1st.  He's 6' 1" and healthy as a horse!  My milk just wasn't doing the trick, and the minute he got the cereal and satisfied, he slept through the night.  There's no cookie cutter way for every infant.  Pediatricians are good for guidelines, but your the mommy, and know when your child is waking up to much with a hunger cry.

I agree, she wasn't supportive of cereal at all at our last visit so when I brought up supplementing with formula I thought maybe she'd give advice and even then she was like well everything he needs is in your milk, he'll stop eating every 2 hours and move onto around 4 etc etc.  I'm not trying to take the mommy device away from him, I just can't produce 96oz a day, I regret not freezing more when I was flowing like a river hahah
