No way.

American League dominance will continue.  Joe Girardi is an ultra-competitive guy. This game will be managed as it should, in that the outcome counts.  He won't worry about egos and trying to make sure everyone gets in, at least I don't think he will.

I wonder how the All Star Game will handle the death of George Steinbrenner? He went out on top.

Boy was I wrong in my prediction and assumptions.  Girardi and his questionable managing actually cost the AL the game.  How can you get to the ninth inning and have no one on your bench but A-Rod, and can't pinch run for Ortiz?  In a game which now counts, it's inexcusable.  I don't have a problem with him not having A-Rod pinch hit for Buck or Kinsler, because even if he did and homered, it only tied the game.  What do you do then if it goes extra innings?  Who's going to catch or play second?  Maybe the whole Steinbrenner death was affecting him more than he led anyone to believe, and his head just wasn't in the game as it usually is.  :dontknow:

Some very nice pitching and defense by the NL.  But, even so, I'm still shocked the AL streak didn't continue.
