Is it just me, or does it sometimes seem that when people are in a relationship, they appear to be a lot more "open" to others....almost like they
feel much "freer" because they know they aren't in that awkward situation of "flirting" with someone/just being friends....I see it all the time-sometimes
I feel like people enjoy being in relationships just because of the fact that they have something to fall back on, and they don't have to be too afraid to put themselves
completely out there....

To an extent, yes. But usually because of an insecurity of some kind. Scared to lose people, lose confidence, whatever the issue is. However that's not the case in every relationship.

If I don't find a good one, I rather have none. Some people would settle for a cheap relationship, but this will cost them dearly later.
