I cant say that the US is the best country in the world, I think we are too arrogant and act like bullies.  The living conditions here are amazing and the freedoms we are given is worth fighting for, but sometimes I think the powers that be say we are fighting for freedom when we are really fighting for money or limited worldly resources or things that the average American will never see because we are not among the elite (wealthy, presidents/CEOs of multinational corporations or leaders of countries).
I studied business for 2 years to get my MBA and I can honestly say that the US is not listed in the top of any list for employee benefits and perks, cost of living wages or least medical claims filed.  For the work standpoint and the most bang for your buck, the US sucks

Always enjoyable to see people act like this country isn't worthy of criticism, and thus improvement, in some (perhaps many) respects.

This country is just fine the way it is, it's just a few of the people in it that need changing.

The people are the country...if you say improvement is needed among the people, the country also needs improvement.

And may I ask what is fine about the education system?  What is fine about the health care industry?  What is fine about the one-party government structure puppeting themselves as two parties?  What is fine about our ridiculously uncontrollable desire to push our noses in any and all foreign policy across the entire globe?  What is fine about the gap between rich and poor?  What is fine about the insane amount of wasteful spending and disproportionate spending on the military when people are living in boxes on a sidewalk?  What is fine about the future of social security?  What is fine about the government's lack of funding one of the most positive advances in the history of biology (stem cell research)?

The list could go on for days.  I guess you could say the country is "fine," if by fine you mean worthy of ignoring what needs to be improved and hoping it works itself out.  I don't know about you, but I don't want a "fine" nation.  I'd like a prosperous nation that minimizes its mistakes and fixes those already present.  In order to do that, one has to take a pessimistic eye to the big picture of this nation occasionally...

Opinions are like bellybuttons, everyone has one and you can have yours. I'll stick with mine and be happy for a long time, since I have heard that crap all my life and nothing has changed. My kids are all educated as much as they wanted to be, I'm not pushing my nose anywhere, I don't have any problem with some people being richer than me and some being poorer, I don't know anyone living in a box on the sidewalk that doesn't want to be there and Social Security is treating me just great. If you don't like the way things are, use the system to change it, that's your right. I don't want to change a thing.

Yes, and no; we cause an awful lot of destruction to other
countries for the sake of money.

I love the world we are all
just as important as the next person.

With all of the rights and opportunities available to us as Americans, it's hard to argue otherwise. It's up to us to take advantage of what we have to make this a better place.

I can't really say because I have never lived anywhere else and I don't know enough about other countries.
