What helped you name your children?

My oldest is named after a good friend from high school, Heather and her middle name is the same as mine, Lynn.  My youngest is named because my boyfriend liked it for a middle name but we couldn't decide on a first name so her middle name became her first name, Ravin, and her middle name is after my niece, Nicole.

When it was time to name our babies I ended up picking a first name and my husband picked out a middle name.  The funny thing is that they matched really well.  I was very picky that it would not be a family members name (that was a chore in itself cause I have 60-75 people in my family and I'm sure my husband has more).  I didn't want anything to common but not to original that it would be hard for them when they go to school. 
Evette Nelly, Aneley Belen, and Leyla Rebecca.  The cutest is that the middle child has initials of ABC.  SO CUTE! (I think)!

I used my ex-husbands fathers first and used the male version of my name for his middle name.

My son's first name is just a name we liked (which is popular now) and his middle name is his father's first name. His name is Aiden Thomas. My daughter's name is Madalynn Ann. Ann is my grandmother's and my fiance's mother's middle names and Madalynn is a name we liked, plus Lynn is mine and my mom's middle name. So a lot of meaning there.

My fiance got his first name from an uncle and his middle name from an uncle, so it's kind of a family tradition.
