Title: Customer Service does it even exist any more?
Post by: debidoo on September 23, 2018, 05:24:01 pm
I pay for a service to deliver my food because I can make it to the grocery due to their electric carts but then I have no way to get it in the house when I get home.  I had an issue and the "customer service" guy I got when I called was a complete and total jerk.  Almost worse the supervisor wasn't much better.  Oh well move on and forward and hopefully I don't have to speak to them again. If you call customer service do you feel you get cordial service?

There have been times when I received excellent customer service.  There have also been times when it was less than cordial.  If I were you I would keep on reporting the incident.  I have had great success utilizing social media.  Go to there facebook page, twitter account or any other you can find and leave messages about the negative feelings that these folks are leaving you with regarding the service.   It certainly can't hurt.   I"m sorry you had this experience especially knowing it's a need not just something you want for convenience.   Don't give up, let the powers that be know how upsetting this was for you.

Good Customer service is hard to find.

I have found some stores that still offer good customer service but others where the employees act as though they are doing you a favor by just ringing up your purchase. I find it helpful to first address this situation with the supervisor or manager and if I don't get positive results at this level I take it to the next level, corporate and this normally works.  ;) ;) ;) ;)

It completely depends on the company.  What bugs me is when you call and the person doesn't know their stuff.  When they're following a script and can't really answer your question.

I find that some companies have good customer service and some do not. Have been on both sides before. It's sad that some companies lack good customer service.

See, I do not agree with this.  I have seen so many people do this. I would complain to a manager and if that did not satisfy me I would contact corporate. But you have to call not email.  Most emails are just forwarded to the manager so corporate doesn't even see them.  I do not agree with getting on Facebook and telling some horrible bad review thing.  That goes back to my previous post it is usually somebody trying to get something for free.

You can't blame the person you are talking to.  They are just doing a job.  They cannot help it if they get a job (like everybody screams they need to do)  and they are thrown in to a situation with little to no training. I have been in that situation before and had jack*** customers smart off to me or telling me how I am stupid because I do not know how to answer their questions.

Some time the  person in customer service may not be having a good  day, depending on how many nasty calls they  get. Having worked Customer service at times it does  get hairy.  I know most customers are  nice and expect  prompt service, but if he/she had not been trained then that person has to go talk to their  supervisor about a problem . To me  that is when the super should take over and correct the problem. Which is where I come in. I have been cussed, called every name in the book and that is until they shut up and let explain I can correct the problem.  And yes I have  also had  bad experience with customer service. But I know to how get around them too.

I downloaded the McDonald's phone application and two separate, newly remodeled McDonald's fast food restaurants within the last week. These restaurants have gone with all orders being completed via Kiosk (most likely the restaurant's attempt combat the latest absurd minimum wage increase). I was greeted, cheerily, as I entered. The transaction was flawless, inexpensive with the phone application, served to me at my table and performed faster than any other visit I have ever encountered. One of the people who served the food was very polite, asked me if I would like any extra napkins or ketchup and brought a few packets of ketchup when he noticed that I had exhausted my supply. I was asked how everything was before I left and encouraged to return soon. Great customer service and may replace my hunger for Taco Bell because they do not seem to care about customer service.

There is, because I do tech support and now some customer service.  It exists, but we also need patience from those who unfortunately have to wait on the line to speak to someone.

This is an interesting testimonial signaling that the future (thinking about the animated Hanna-Barbera program of the early 1960s, "The Jetsons") may be here at last.  At least, McDonald's is moving forward on the concept of ordering through a kiosk -- and you found the experience positive.

Good customer service is very hard to  find these days.  When I actually talk to someone in customer service it is very rare that they speak English and understand what I'm asking  :pumpkin: :rainbow:

That makes me wonder if the employees are being paid more. Just a thought.  I have noticed at our Walmart the customer service has improved since the wages have increased.  When starting pay is $11 instead of $7.25 of course people will be more eager to work and be helpful.

It depends on the company.  Small independent companies tend to be more cordial than big named supper stores or chain stores.  It's a shame most 'mom and pop' type stores are going out of business but they were the ones that always provided the best customer service.

I have tried several different grocery delivery services in my area.  Each one brought the groceries into my kitchen and put them on the counter for me.  I cannot believe you would have groceries left at the door...what about frozen or cold good items?   Maybe just try a different store and be sure to let the first company know why and that you are still using that service..just elsewhere.  (I always send copies to supervisor, managers, corporate, better business bureau, chamber of commerce and put on social media!)

Most of the time calling Customer Service is a joke but unfortunately its a necessity sometimes.  One thing that gets me mad is calling an American based company and getting someone who can barely speak English and their accent is so heavy I can't understand what they do say in English!

In my honest opinion, customer service exists. However, the original purpose of it - to service customers - has fallen well to the wayside in most instances. Nowadays, customer service representatives as a whole have become grossly unprofessional and lazy.

Yes and No; the service you get now isn't the greatest, and customer is definetely not always "right" anymore. It does exist but just not great anymore like it used to be.

Customer service these days is a hit and miss; most times miss! it seems that so many businesses have not invested anything on training their employees  to provide quality customer service; that's why when I find someplace that provides good customer service I tend to be a repeat customer  at times speaking to a supervisor is and I agree speaking to a supervisor is no better.  ::)

I find Customer Service at certain places to be consistently very good, like the USAA insurance company in Texas and
Bank of America. An example of a company which has poor customer service is eBay in my opinion.

That's an interesting comment to me about eBay.  I've never had to deal with their customer service so I'm unaware, but then I don't buy much on the site (and I've never sold anything yet), which is where I could see a need for responsive customer service.

I'm glad to hear that USAA is true in reality to the commercials they air.  I recommend them to vets.

In some places it does.

For the first time in many years, I had an employee (ast mgr) of my favorite grocery store treat me very rudely in puplic for something he was wrong about.

I called them after I got home, and spoke with a manager. He was terrific, understood, promised he would get some better training on the issue I had to his employees, and speak with the asst mgr I had the issue with.

Even left a credit for me to use on a purchase there at the customer Service Desk.

Very pleased. It was taken seriously. They are known for loving and respecting their customers, and it showes.

Most of the time I do.  I do avoid calling customer service when possible but when I have done it in the past few years, it seems to be getting better to me.  Maybe I've just been lucky.

I have been trying to get in touch with customer service about my phone service, it's been almost two weeks, I told them in an email that if I don't hear from them I will be contacting the head office, can't get thru to them, so finally this women sent me an email with her name, I emailed her yesterday with a long complaint, maybe that will get their attention.
