July 4th was my 36 year anniversary since becoming a US citizen and July 5 was my 41 year anniversary since we arrived in United States. Back than visas was so easy to get and citizenship was even easier. It has been one hell of ride for 41 years adjusting to changes.
I have plans of going back home in the near future to see how Lebanon has changed since leaving it.

Happy anniversary. Would you ever return to Lebanon to live?
-
Celebrate good times, it's an anniversary!
-
I would not go back to live permanetly. I do not speak the language any more nor read or write.I have to learn some arabic before I go back for a visit.

So let me step "out of line" here for just a moment; but First of all, congratulations!!!
As someone who went through the process legally and officially the right way; how do you feel about those who cross the border into the U.S. illegally?
-
I am so glad you did it the legal way. so Welcome to our country now yours. I know it was so different and hard. I have a nephew-in-law who has just now received his papers to become a citizen and it was rough for him but he did it. It is the illegals that I have a problem with and I do not think they should be legalized just because they came here illegally . I feel it is a slap to those who have gone through the system.
-
Congrats on both anniversaries! Happy to have you here!

Thank you everyone for the kind words. As far as illegals go it should be stopped. But I do not think anything will be done because it is too hard to catch everyone.
I am very happy that my family was able to leave lebanon when we did. There was war going on and we lost many members to the war including both set of grand parents. Both were killed in their home because they would not abandon it for Israel. I was there for 3 invasions by Israel and nightmares do not go away. I still have nightmares 41 years later.

As others have said, congratulations and welcome to your new (now old) country. We are a nation of immigrants, my grandparents came from Germany and my husbands from Italy. I am so happy you came here legally and happy you are here.

Congratulations on the anniversary of your American citizenship, OP!
