Title: Lunch at work
Post by: melodylogan45 on February 25, 2016, 03:08:31 pm
Do you spend a lot of money on going out for lunch at work or do you pack a lunch everyday and bring it to work. I only get a half a hour for lunch, so I bring my lunch everyday, plus I save money by doing that too.

When I did work, I packed a lunch, usually a homemade salad filled with greens, vegetables, and leftover meats from last night's dinner.  I saved money, and co-workers often asked me where I bought my great looking salad!

I did both. It just depended on what was leftover from last night and/or what kind of mood I was in. A lot of us would take turns ordering from local places and then go pick up the order.

When my son worked at Long John Silver's, i used to get a lot of their salads. They were delicious. The girls had seen it one day and next thing you know, I was ordering 4 or more of them for the girls. I sometimes wonder if  LJS questioned the big jump in salads at lunch. LOL   ;)

I mostly pack one: the cafeteria options are ok at best and it's too expensive to order delivery in my area.

I usually just eat at home when I am on lunch break. I have an hour of lunch so that was good because I live about 5 minutes from where I work. I usually either make a quick hot sandwich or sometimes just leftovers. Some days I would just grave Chinese so I just go to Shanghai Restaurant for lunch.

Before our department moved to a different building, we had a great break room that had a couple of large fridges, a few microwaves, coffee maker, and some vending machines. So back then since I could store my food in the fridge, I'd typically pack a lunch. However now our break room just has tables to eat on; we even have to walk elsewhere in order to use a microwave and there's no place to keep your food cold. So now I usually eat at the cafeteria at work... Not my favorite, esp. considering that the food tends to be pretty bland (a fault I've come to expect here in MN) not to mention more fattening than what I make at home. However I did pick up a dorm fridge at a garage sale, so I'm planning to bring that into my office so that I can pack my lunches once again.

I like lean pockets or banquet/michelina microwave entries for workday lunch.

I use to go out for lunch but when I calculated how much it cost versus making myself a sandwich I started brown bagging.

I have a 30 minute break and usually not hungry.  I take a shaker bottle and add a little water and a serving of protein powder.  When I get to work, I fill it full of ice.  By the time it's lunch, I just shake it up and drink.  It's convenient, cheap and gives me the energy I need to finish the rest of the shift.

I usually make lunch from home.   Its cheaper, and wherever I am at when I get hungry I have it with me.  I do a lot of driving around for my job.  I often will stop in and get a drink with ice.

I usually take my lunch.  I'll cook for 2-3 days.  I'll go buy lunch maybe once every 2 weeks
