Do any of you use Redbox? I am curious as to if I can use a prepaid credit card at the terminal?
-
have never used same as do not feel a need - simply having the internet gets me plenty of entertainment
-
I always pass by it whenever I go to Walmart. I only tried it once.
-
Did EITHER of you use a pre-paid debt card? That's what I need to know. I have passed by them a million times. I have a code for a free movie and I have a prepaid debt card and wanted to know if I can use that. I do not feel comfortable using my debt card connected to my SS# and Bank Account.

Unsure if you can, but doesn't hurt to try it!

That still doesn't answer my question. lol. It is PRE-PAID DEBT CARD. PRE-PAID being the kicker here. I am going to try it later today. And I will solve the mystery. And I will come back and let y'all know if it worked.

I look through the list nearly every time I pass rebox. We have them everywhere here. Their office is easy to get-a-hold of. Good luck on your card, always scary to use it.

A prepaid debit card with what logo?
Prepaid cards work the same as credit cards, except that the money is already there, on the card.
And the link is to redbox customer help. You can ask them directly.
-
The red box is a waste of time and money. But that's just me.
-
As long as there are sufficient funds, it should work. I would guess they will put a hold on the funds on your card for whatever the maximum rental cost would be. Similar to when you pay at the pump with a prepaid card.

I have heard about Redbox but never try it.
-
I've only used Redbox a couple of times and don't remember how I paid. But I've been simply amazed at how busy they stay. I've hardly ever passed a Redbox where no one was getting a movie! Somebody had a good idea!
-
Every Redbox we have around here, the lines are always long. So I have never used it.
-
Used in the past but not recently so I can't remember
-
I have never tried it, perhaps I should. I have been watching way too many reruns.

Does it matter what the logo is? I just went and tried it. It did not work. Said card could not be authorized. They want to be able to charge you the full amount (like $20) for the movie if you do not return it. I am not going to keep the movie but I am not comfortable swiping my bank card at kiosk machines in random places.

The movie I wanted was not in stock anyway. I have a code for a free movie thus the only reason I was going to use them anyway.

I use Redbox a lot and I like it, specially because of the $$, $1.50 is not bad for a DVD and $2.00 for blue ray, if you rent and return by 9 pm next day. The prepaid card should work as long as you have enough money to them to hold. My teenage daughter had a Visa Buxx card and she had about $5 in it and was able to rent a movie without issues.

I mostly use netflex but my sister uses redbox and loves it. I just don't have time to pick them up or take them back.

Maybe it was just my card. I will try again. Although, I do not see why they would need to put a hold on a bunch of my money. They most likely print the movies themselves so they have maybe 99 cents if that much in each disk.
I know some of the dvds you order off Amazon they burn them as people order them.
-
I haven't used redbox. Sorry :( I would be surprised if they don't take it though.
-
I just got a free movie code in my email.
Tomorrow I'll be renting Mad Maxx! I heard it wasn't all that, but whatever as it is free :)
I am thankful that I have a redbox within 10 minute walking distance from my house. It's a nice walk, if I had to drive to one, I wouldn't be taking advantage of it, it wouldn't be worth it.
Redbox only authorizes $1.00. However, if you rent online, it doesn't take prepaid cards (gift cards, IDK about the refillable ones), at least that is what has happened to me, no matter what the balance is. You have to go directly to the redbox with it.

The logo matters only if it's not one that Redbox accepts.

We used to use Redbox a lot and still do on occasion but I've never tried a prepaid debit card. I just use my regular debit card and have never had an issue doing that.

There is still the costs of the Kiosk, revenue sharing with the business it is located, and the movie rights. Redbox has distribution arrangements with a lot of movies studios where the pay a smaller fee ($4-$8) for the DVD, and then pay a certain percentage of the rental revenue back to the movie studio. Otherwise, they pay regular retail price for the DVDs and keep the rental revenue.

I don't know about the prepaid plan, but I've use Redbox.

I use Redbox once in a while to browse the movies offered, then go home and watch them for free on Kodi.
