There are many sites that you can google and find info for crocheting. I basically taught myself, you can find help on you tube as well, ask.com, they have videos that you can watch that are pretty helpful. Good Luck!

I know how to crochet but I have never looked on the internet for sites to show how to crochet. I would think that if you searched for crocheting for the beginner that you should find what you are looking for. Good luck in your search. :cat: :)

Yes. I crochet. I used to knit, but once I started crocheting I really liked it. There are tons of websites with beginner patterns, directions on how to make each stitch, and video demonstrations of stitches. You can also go to your public library and get crochet books with beautiful illustrations.
That's how I got started. Good Luck.

My mom is an expert at crocheting. She doesn't do it as much as she use to, shes 80 now. She has made vests, blankets, stuffed animals, etc... I have done very little compared to her. Its not hard to learn, its a good hobby to get into. You can make presents for birthdays, Christmas, etc... Home made gifts always seems to be the nicest. I remember one year my mom at Christmas time had 3 smurf dolls that she crocheted for my daughter. My daughter was so surprised at that time. There are so many different things to make.

Once you start crocheting you never forget the steps, You can pick the hook up and pick it back up with no trouble.

I taught myself how to crochet when I was in high school......that was a LONG time ago.
I would need a refresher class or video from Youtube myself.

My late cousin taught me how to crochet. I haven't done it much lately. The last time I did, I made hats. Good luck in your search and I hope you have fun at it.

I remember my mother doing it when I was growing up. She taught us a little but, I don't remember it. Would love to learn again.

Crocheting is not necessarily easier than knitting but it seems to progress faster.

I know how to crochet, but I don't do it that often. Several months ago I finished a blanket for my favorite sister's little daughter. That took me a long time, since I don't have a lot of free time to spend on diong stuff like that. Also it got more complicated than I had at first intended.

If you can find a yarn store, they have classes in almost everything, but some of the answers are FREE and that's where I would go...
-
Just type in "Learn to crochet", into Google and you'll find a number of sites to check out to learn the basics. Hope that helps

My wife found a really neat instructional video on You Tube about this. It really helped her w/ her project.

Thanks for the info about the instructional video on You Tube. Maybe I will be able to learn again after all. It reminds me of my childhood.

I learned to crochet many years ago from my mother-in-law. More recently, I have tried to learn to knit, but I could never get into it. I think how much you like it depends on what you have learned and what you are used to. I like crochet because you can work on it while watching TV and not have to think to much about what you are doing. It is a great way to relax.

I have done a bit of crocheting. I found it a lot easier than knitting. I always am astonished at how complicated knitting seems to me.

I used to crochet a lot. My late mother-in-law taught me. She was fantastic! She made gorgeous doilies, afghans, shawls, even made some dresses. I stopped when I developed tendinitis. They say crocheting is good for arthritis, but my hands started aching so bad, I couldn't hold the needles very well.
Since hubby was on the road all week and I worked 2 jobs, when we moved into our newly built house, we hired a friend to move our stuff into a shed. My crochet stuff disappeared as did a lot of other stuff, so I haven't really done anything in the past 20 years. I'd love to restart since I'm now forcefully retired, but can't spend the money right now. I am looking for another hobby, but haven't found anything satisfying. :(

I learned how to crochet through a family friend back in middle school or elementary school. She also taught me how to so. But as of now I forgot how to do both. I'm not sure of any sites but I'm sure Google can help. ;D

I never learned, my grandmother tried and tried and then gave up teaching me, guess I just can't get it. ??? I think the Internet probably has places to teach you, or if there is a yarn store near you there might be someone there who could help you.

Another thing I would really like to be able to do is knit. I never learned that. If you get good, there are a lot of things you can make with knitting.

Yes I have crocheted to bed in bags. It consisted of a bed spread and 5 pillows one was red white and green for a Christmas present. And the other was also for a Christmas present it was just not Christmas colors.

How long does it take to make a whole set like that? Is it a long term project? Sounds like it really took a while.
